Starting 2021 Teachers’ Day, the ‘Alumni of Basirhat High School’ (AABHS) kick started a virtual online ‘Career Counselling’ program on 5th September, 2021. This was the inaugural session of a series of career Counselling programs undertaken by AABHS and dedicated to noble educationist and eminent teacher of Basirhat High School Shri Subhas Chandra Kundu Sir.

The interested students were invited to fill out the Google Form using the shared link http://bit.ly/aabhscounselling which was shared in advance through social media to outreach students in and around Basirhat sub- division. More than 300 students students who registered using the given Google form were allowed to attend the Career Counseling session.

The panel dignitaries comprised of eminent corporate and government personalities from India and abroad shared their advice and tips. Students from middle schools, high schools and colleges gained knowledge about the career opportunities upfront and learned methods to prepare themselves to pursue their dream career. The attending students also got the opportunity to interact with the panelists and put up their questions. The students and attending parents, however, were reminded that ABHAS would only act as a guide in general and not to indicate anyone to choose a specific career.

Observing the enthusiasm of the students and parents, AABHS had planned to continue this initiative throughout the year. In addition, special classes on soft skills and communications will also be run as tool to prepare the needy students to face the challenging competition.

Following counseling sessions are planned to be held during 2021:
1. ‘In Search of Right Scholarship’ is scheduled for October 3, 2021
2. ‘Seeking Opportunity to Study Abroad’ is scheduled for November 7, 2021.
3. Career Counselling sessions for Engineering, Medical and other subjects will be scheduled soon.

It’s to be noted that ABHAS will only act as a guide but it is to the discretion of the students to choose their career.
The panellist will share their views and experience of career selection. This will be a continuous process and students will be guided about the respective career preparation along with special classes on soft skills and communications. It is completely free of cost for all the students
